I graduated from New College Oxford in Physics, in the summer of 1987. And completed my PhD (also in Physics) at Edinburgh University in 1992.
I have been heavily involved with parallel computing since I arrived in Edinburgh in 1987, both in the Physics Department and later in EPCC.
My current interests include:
and just about everything else.
I am currently working in the Application Group. Most of my time is spent working with HPCX at the moment.
I am the author of the xmountains fractal landscape program. There is also a java version of this code.
I have also written the FTRANS fortran pre-processor and the f90depend program for generating f90 Makefile dependencies.
I updated the stctl tape stacker driver to include support for barcode readers. This code is available here
