"This project has demonstrated how Grid technologies can be used to
enable true e-Science - discoveries that would not otherwise have been
achieved without this infrastructure in place."
Professor Peter Ghazal, Director, GTI.

Funded under the
UK eScience Programme,
this project builds upon the results of two others, the
Open Grid Services
Architecture Data Access and Integration project
and the
Sun Data and Compute
Grids project.
ODD-Genes demonstrates the power of OGSA-DAI in enabling researchers
in genetics to perform new kinds of data analysis, greatly enhancing
their ability to understand the wealth of data in post-genomic
bioinformatics.
Also making use of the new SunDCG Transfer queue Over Globus (TOG),
developed to enhance SUN Grid Engine, ODD-Genes harnesses the results
of two EPCC Grid Core Programme projects to create new ways of doing
e-Science.
ODD-Genes demonstrates to genetics researchers at the
Scottish Centre for Genomics Technology
and Informatics
and the MRC
Human Genetics Unit
at Edinburgh's Western General hospital the power of data and compute
integration over the Grid.
